Thursday, July 8

Yesterday, I accompanied another reporter as part of his follow-up story about railway crossings. Previously, a local 2-year-old boy nearly drown and on the way to the hospital, emergency vehicles got stuck at a railway crossing, where railcars were moving back and forth. They were stuck there for 7 minutes, before the way was clear to get them to the hospital.
The boy lived but now concerns are raised about the safety of having railway crossings blocking emergency vehicles from getting to the hospital. I went with the reporter and took a shot of the intersection. A fire truck met with us there and approached the intersection with lights on in order to get the shot.

Looking for safer solutions. A?fire truck crosses the rail tracks at Concession Road near King Street yesterday. The intersection has become a flash point for a clash between emergency vehicles and trains.
